David Carswell

I bring more than 40 years of experience in the audio‑visual industry, encompassing live and studio sound, broadcast and cable television, and corporate A/V environments. I currently serve as an A/V Analyst with Irving Oil, based at the Home Office in Saint John, New Brunswick, where I am responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing support of A/V systems across Atlantic Canada, New England, and Ireland.
Our environment is primarily Microsoft Teams–centric and supported by a broad ecosystem of enterprise technologies, including Crestron, Logitech, Neat, Q‑SYS, Shure, and Biamp. I hold professional certifications from Crestron, Q‑SYS, Audinate (Dante), Shure, Extron, and Kramer, among others.
I am passionate about advancing the A/V industry and strongly committed to continuous learning, ensuring that both technology solutions and the professionals who support them remain informed of emerging trends, innovations, and best practices.

British Colombia Candidate Bio’s

Paul Alegado

With over 30 years of experience in the AV industry, I began my journey in the analog era and seen the rapid evolution into today’s digital landscape. I am excited about the continuous innovation shown in our industry, and I would like to help grow that innovative spirit with my colleagues, especially those just starting to get into AV. As a P.Eng., I also want to help bring the AV industry into the professional engineering world as a core discipline, as I believe modern AV systems deserve the same recognition and standards applied to other engineering professions.

Sam Scanlan

I’m Sam Scanlan, Team Lead and Regional Sales Manager for Western Canada at SFM. While the title is a bit of a mouthful, my job is pretty simple: helping end users and resellers find smart, reliable solutions to AV problems using SFM’s deep catalogue.
My AV journey started the way many do—through music and a love of technology. I went from setting up PA systems and installing car stereos in high school, to running my own production and DJ company, alongside roles in music retail and systems integration. For the last 20 years, I’ve been proud to work on the distribution side of the industry.
I’m a very proud dad of four, and when I’m not talking AV, I’m a baseball coach and a low brass player who’s happiest in the back row of a concert or jazz band.
